Chocolate Helicopter: Extant/Extinct
Friday, December 1, 2006 from 6 - 11 p.m.
One Night Only

Chocolate Helicopter is a collective of artists, manifesting through various
mediums, the post-apocalyptic indigenous culture we have come to know.
This consortium was formed in the late 2005, while attending college in
Santa Fe, New Mexico. There are several members that create the group
including Jake Fragua and Rose Bean Simpson. Chocolate Helicopter has
been involved in numerous events since the start. Our art is not believed to
be art in our senses because it is just a word conceptualized by Western thought.

APRIL 2004

Westword's Best of Denver 2005 - Best Tribute to Old Denver
"Tilt-a-Whirl World" Photography Show by Christina Ianni at Kirk Norlin Gallery

"Lakeside Amusement Park creaks on year after year, slowly sliding down the path toward historical oddity.
It's Colorado's very own Coney Island, and that's exactly what makes the place so charming. Local photographer
Christina Ianni captured the broken-down park -- with the rickety old Cyclone and carny-favorite Tilt-A-Whirl --
on film, using toy cameras scrounged at five-and-dimes. The results were rich, magical photos that expressed
the beauty and nostalgia of one of Denver's great cultural legacies. When they all hung en masse in Kirk Norlin
Gallery, it was as if Ianni had captured not just the park, but the heart and soul of Denver."

"Tilt-a-Whirl World"
“Tilt-a-Whirl World” was first shown last October and features the alternative photography of Christina Ianni
displaying unique images of Lakeside Amusement Park as part of Denver's "Month of Photography" tour.
The new body of work from Christina Ianni was a rich and magical experience. The child-like wonder of her
black and white images created by the skillful and creative use of toy cameras combined with the nostalgic
images of Denver’s Lakeside Amusement Park intrigued the viewer both visually and emotionally.

We will be showing images from this show during April in our second room adjoining
the main show - "Prayers from the Thunder Dragon"

MARCH 2004

Dan Jahn "Prayers from the Thunder Dragon"
a photo / art exhibition
March 4 - April 16, 2005

This wonderful exhibition consists of photographs, prayers and colors printed directly on silk
using pigmented, light fast inks, and edged with hand-sewn Dupioni silk, hung from bamboo
in a manner inspired by traditional Asian scrolls. The exhibition also offers a unique lighted
" Sun and Wind" piece, and a number of framed and unframed giclee prints as well as a photo book.

The Kingdom of Bhutan - known as the Land of the Thunder Dragon - lies east of Nepal and
south of Tibet, and has been visited by a great many saints, mystics, scholars and pilgrims
over the centuries who not only came for their personal elucidation, but blessed the land
and its people with an invaluable spiritual and cultural legacy that has shaped every facet of
Bhutanese lives. Buddhism, in its Tantric form, has been the predominant religion since the
7th century and has inculcated deeply the value that all forms of sentient life, not just human
life, are precious and sacred. Bhutan measures itself on GNH, Gross National Happiness,
and the country has been profiled recently in 'The Economist', 'The New York Times', and a
number of other publications. Tourism is restricted to just over 5,000 tourists annually, and
those who do venture there are changed for life.

Born in Sri Lanka and raised in Europe, Dan Jahn has been traveling the world ever since.
Dan began his career in The White House, and after taking studying at Oxford University
and taking degrees in religious studies, politics and international relations from the
University of Colorado at Boulder and a a Masters in Economics from the University of Wales,
Dan founded the Rocky Mountain Digital Arts Center and gallery 0101, one of the world's first
galleries devoted to digital art and photography. Dan has given seminars on digital art, religion
and politics, and global terrorism in the technology age, and has been published in the USA
and Europe. Most recently he founded Sacred Travels, an educational tour company, which
specializes in trips exploring the historical, social and political implications of spiritual/religious
sacred sites throughout the world.
